OF HEALTH
-

- The
Board of Health meets at the Town Office Building, 346
Bedford Street, on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each
month. Their meetings are posted at the Town Office
Building and are open to the public. The Board of
Health contracts with the Visiting Nurse Association
to provide blood pressure clinics and flu vaccine
clinics. They also organize an annual rabies clinic
for both dogs and cats in an effort to combat this
disease. In addition to landfill operations, the Board
of Health is also involved in the day to day
activities of septic and well inspections, inspection
of business properties, issuing of licenses, and
setting regulations regarding health and safety
considerations of the town and its residents. The
Board of Health provides low interest loans through
the Septic System Repair Program. This program was
originally initiated by the Board of Health, and
subsequently ratified by the State, in order to assist
residents in repairing their septic systems. The goal
of this program is to avert potential environmental
impact, especially in the shore areas. The Board of
Health also began a new Septic Repair Program that
provides loans to residents based exclusively on the
criteria of environmental impact. The Board of Health
can be reached at: 946-8805 and their office hours are
Monday through Friday from 9AM until
4PM.
