Town Clerk
 
Lakeville Town Clerk is Janet L. Tracy, and the Assistant Town Clerk is Lillian Drane. As the local arm of the Secretary of State's office, the Town Clerk serves you as the chief election official, supervising polling places, election officers and the general conduct of all elections; recording and reporting official results to the Secretary of State. The Clerk directs the preparation of the ballots, voting equipment, voter registration, voting lists and absentee balloting. The Clerk serves on and supervises the Board of Registrars and is responsible for the certification of nomination papers and initiative petitions as well as administering campaign finance laws. The Clerk's office conducts the Annual Town Census and has the street list printed. The Town Clerk is responsible for recording and certifying all official actions of the Town including Town Meeting legislation, Planning & Zoning Board decisions, signs all notes for borrowing, keeps the Town Seal, and submits all General and Zoning By-laws to the Attorney General for approval. The office also issues Burial Permits, Business Certificates, Dog Licenses, Kennel Licenses, Hunting/Fishing Licenses, and many permits for Raffles, Bazaars, Underground Storage Tanks, Junk Dealers/Collectors & Auctioneers. As the local Registrar of Vital Statistics, they record births, deaths, and marriages, and issue certified copies of same. As the Public Records Officer, this office administers the oath of office to all elected and appointed members of committees and boards, keeps officials informed of the State's Open Meeting and Conflict of Interest Laws; and is responsible for posting meetings of all governmental bodies.
